Program Description

It is concerned with teaching and translating the Turkish language from and to it and qualifying national cadres equipped with the linguistic and cognitive skills necessary to meet the needs of the labor market.

Graduates of the program are expected to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Mastery of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Turkish, progressing from foundational basics to advanced social and specialized topics.
  • Translation & Interpretation Expertise: Competence in translating between Turkish and Arabic in multiple modes—consecutive, bi-lingual, simultaneous, and visual—to meet the needs of both public and private sectors.
  • Dictionary & Research Skills: Advanced ability to use monolingual, bilingual, and specialized dictionaries and to conduct scientific research in translation studies.
  • Cultural Competence: A deep understanding of Turkish culture and its historical ties to the Arab world, facilitating effective intercultural mediation.
  • Market Readiness: Preparation for professional roles in various sectors, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Court, security agencies, and international companies.
  • Academic Qualification: A high school diploma or its equivalent with a strong academic record (typically 90% or higher for competitive tracks).
  • Standardized Tests:
    • General Aptitude Test (GAT): Mandatory for Saudi nationals.
    • Achievement Test (SAAT): Used to calculate the composite score for admission.
  • Common First Year (CFY): Students are first admitted to the Humanities Colleges Track. Progression into the Turkish major depends on performance during this year.
  • Age Limit: Applicants must generally be under 25 years of age.
  • Nationality: Primarily for Saudi nationals; international students may apply via Study in Saudi scholarship programs.
