Laboratory Medicine Residency Program

By the end of their training, residents are expected to:

1. C ommunicate effectively as medical consultants to clinicians and patients.
2. Manage and direct the clinical laboratory enterprises.
3. Analyze and evaluate the science and technology of laboratory medicine.
4. Analyze and evaluate the quality, clinical appropriateness, and usefulness of the data produced by the laboratory.
5. Appraise the need for requesting consultation on methods of diagnostic test development, test utilization in the context of both generally applicable as well as patient-specific clinical settings, and assay interpretation in the acute and chronic clinical management of patients.
6. Develop and implement integrated medical informatics that would optimize patient care.
7. Promote the role of research in clinical decision making, test development, knowledge generation, and in continuing medical education.

Medical diploma, certified secondary school certificate, official updated university transcript, passing colloquium exam for Lebanese, IFOM exam, 3 recommendation letters, personal interview.

Residents gain experience in clinical laboratory operations, providing consultative services, participating in conferences, and completing quality improvement projects. The program includes clinical experience at affiliated hospitals like Saint George University Medical Center and an academic foundation.
