Program Description

Preparing specialized nurses to conduct research, develop nursing practice, and lead the healthcare system through quality education and scientific research to meet national needs.

A- Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Explaining concepts, theories, and specialized frameworks.

  • Integrating specialized knowledge from nursing and other disciplines into the roles of nursing specialists, educators, or leaders.

  • Demonstrating an understanding of the Saudi healthcare system in terms of policy and the organizational context of healthcare delivery.

B- Skills:

  • Demonstrating the ability to critically evaluate research evidence related to common health issues.

  • Using effective communication strategies to collaborate with diverse professional teams to provide comprehensive, high-quality care.

  • Applying specialized nursing roles to provide patient-centered care for diverse populations.

C- Values, Independence, and Responsibility:

  • Utilizing ethical principles and values to guide the clinical decision-making process.

  • Advocating for the development of health-related policies and practices through community engagement and participation in professional organizations and workplaces.

  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to improve practice and patient/population health outcomes.

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from King Saud University or any other recognized institution, with a minimum grade of Good and a cumulative GPA of 2.75/5 or its equivalent, or a cumulative GPA of 2/5 with a Higher Diploma with Excellent grade in the relevant specialty, or a cumulative GPA of 4.5/5 or its equivalent.

  • The applicant must have a minimum score of 4 in the ACADEMIC IELTS or its equivalent, or must hold a qualification in English from countries where English is the official language, according to the approved list of the Deanship.

  • Obtain professional classification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

  • Completion of the internship (Al-Imtiaz training period).

  • The applicant must have at least one year of experience in the specialty field.

  • The applicant must pass the written test conducted by the department with a minimum passing score of 50%.

First Year – First Semester

Program Orientation & Structure – Overview of the program requirements (42 credit hours) – 0 Credit Hours
Major Specialization Selection – Choosing one major specialization and a related subspecialty – 0 Credit Hours
Functional Role Preparation – Introduction to professional roles in advanced nursing practice – 0 Credit Hours

First Year – Second Semester

Nursing Administration – Management and leadership in nursing practice – 3 Credit Hours
Medical-Surgical Nursing – Adult health and advanced clinical care – 3 Credit Hours
Maternal & Child Health Nursing – Foundations of maternal and pediatric care – 3 Credit Hours

Second Year – First Semester

Maternal Nursing / Midwifery – Advanced maternal care and midwifery practices – 3 Credit Hours
Pediatric (Childhood) Nursing – Advanced nursing care for children – 3 Credit Hours
Primary Health Care Nursing – Nursing practice in primary health care settings – 3 Credit Hours

Second Year – Second Semester

Community Health Nursing – Health promotion and disease prevention in communities – 3 Credit Hours
Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing – Mental health assessment and psychiatric care – 3 Credit Hours
Clinical Practice / Applied Training – Clinical training according to specialization – 6 Credit Hours
