Program Description

The Master of Science in Pharmaceutics  is  designed to equip students with a deep scientific background in drug dosage design, biopharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetics. 

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Advanced Scientific Background: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the design and evaluation of modern drug dosage forms.
  • Specialized Principles: Mastery of biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics and their critical impact on pharmaceutical preparations.
  • Scientific Integration: Ability to link pharmaceutical technology with fundamental sciences to innovate modern delivery systems.

Cognitive and Research Skills

  • Critical Evaluation: Capacity to evaluate scientific literature critically and identify gaps in pharmaceutical research.
  • Research Design: Skill in formulating hypotheses, planning original experiments, and interpreting complex data sets.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address technical challenges in drug manufacturing and stability through systematic research.

Professional and Practical Skills

  • Laboratory Proficiency: Mastery of technical laboratory methods including pharmaceutical microbiology, sterilization, and antibiotic assaying.
  • Scientific Communication: Effectiveness in presenting research findings orally and in writing to diverse audiences, including academia and industry.
  • Ethical Practice: Adherence to the highest intellectual standards and professional ethics in all research activities.
  • Academic Background: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from KSU or an accredited university.
  • GPA: Minimum cumulative GPA of “Good” (2.75/5.0), though specialty course grades must typically be “Very Good” (3.75/5.0).
  • Language Proficiency: A minimum score of 475 on the TOEFL-PBT or its equivalent.
  • Entrance Exam: Passing a written examination administered by the department.
  • Interview: Successful completion of a personal interview.

First Year – First Semester

PHAR501 – Modern Drug Delivery Systems – 3 Credit Hours
PHAR502 – Advanced Biopharmaceutics – 3 Credit Hours
PHAR503 – Pharmaceutical Microbiology – 3 Credit Hours

Semester Total: 9 Credit Hours

First Year – Second Semester

PHAR504 – Pharmacokinetics and Drug Absorption – 3 Credit Hours
PHAR505 – Natural Pharmaceutical Technology – 3 Credit Hours
PHAR506 – Research Methodology in Pharmaceutical Sciences – 3 Credit Hours

Semester Total: 9 Credit Hours

Second Year – First Semester

PHAR507 – Elective I – 3 Credit Hours
PHAR508 – Elective II – 3 Credit Hours

Semester Total: 6 Credit Hours

Second Year – Second Semester

PHAR599 – Master’s Research Thesis – 2 Credit Hours
Successful completion and defense of an original research thesis.
