Program Description

The program offers two concentrations: Health Management and Health Education. It provides enrolled students the opportunity for practical and integrative learning through tutorial groups, computer lab sessions, field experiences, and a capstone course.

Core Learning Outcomes for the Public Health Undergraduate Program (common to all concentrations):

  1. Apply public health concepts as a broad and complex domain of professional practice and inquiry, with specific reference to the local context.
  2. Analyze local and international public health problems with inferences from history and milestones in the evolution of the public health field.
  3. Examine ethical issues relevant to public health practice, especially as they apply to local specificities, and justify proposed courses of action.
  4. Apply research skills to generate well-formed questions and approaches to answering them – including research questions, data sources, and appropriate methodologies.
  5. Assess evidence used to implement and evaluate public health interventions.
  6. Communicate effectively about public health issues.

Admission to the Public Health Program

  1. Completion of the Qatar University Foundation Program requirements.
  2. Minimum Secondary School Grade for the Final Year: 70%.
  3. Pass 16 CH with GPA=2.00 and above including MEDI101 (Grade D or above) and CHEM 101 /CHEM 103, MEDI 103 & PUBH 151.
  4. Degree evaluation is performed for the accepted students.
  5. Students must satisfy QU requirements for declaring a major including the need to declare the major before completing 36 undergraduate credit hours.
