Program Description

Our Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) major in Civil Engineering degree (previously known as Bachelor of Engineering: Civil), aims to provide you with a strong technical background and the right skills to launch a career in the construction industry. As part of the course, you will be introduced to various iconic architectural structures and construction sites in and around the UAE and will have a chance to work on simulations and real-life projects as well.

1. High School Academic Requirements

Admission requirements vary according to the high school curriculum completed by the applicant.

UAE Al-Thanawiyya Al-Aama

  • Elite Track: Minimum overall score of 75%.
  • Advanced Track: Minimum overall score of 80%.
  • EmSAT Requirements:
    • Mathematics: Minimum score of 1300.
    • Physics: Minimum score of 1000.
    • Arabic: Minimum score of 600.

British GCE Curriculum

  • Completion of Year 13.
  • Minimum of 5 IGCSE/GCSE subjects with Grade D or higher.
  • Minimum of 3 A-Level subjects with grades CCD.

American High School Diploma

  • Minimum overall Grade C average (70% or 2.5/4.0).
  • SAT score of 1,100 or higher.

CBSE / ICSE (India) Grade 12

  • Minimum positional grade score of 10.5.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

  • Minimum overall score of 25 points.

Arab Countries Curriculum

  • High School Diploma equivalent to the UAE Al-Thanawiyya Al-Aama requirements.

Foundation Pathway
Students who do not meet the standard entry requirements may be considered for admission through the International Foundation Year (IFY) pathway program.


2. Mathematics and Physics Placement Requirements

All admitted Civil Engineering students must complete internal placement assessments in Mathematics and Physics before commencing their studies.

  • Placement Tests are conducted during the first week of study.
  • A minimum score of 60% in both Mathematics and Physics is required for direct entry into Year 1 engineering subjects.
  • Students scoring below 60% may be required to complete foundation or remedial subjects before progressing to core engineering units.


3. English Language Proficiency Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency.

  • IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 79 with minimum scores of 18 in Reading and Writing, and 17 in Listening and Speaking.
  • PTE Academic: Overall score of 54 with a minimum score of 54 in all communicative skills.


4. UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) Equivalency Requirements

As UOWD degrees are accredited within the UAE and internationally recognized, applicants must satisfy the required attestation procedures.

Students from Schools within the UAE

  • Must obtain an official Certificate of Equivalency from the UAE Ministry of Education.

Students from Schools outside the UAE

  • Academic certificates must be attested by:
    • The issuing Board of Education.
    • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country of issue.
    • The UAE Embassy in the country of issue.


5. Required Application Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents through the UOWD Admissions Portal:

  • Certified copies of high school transcripts and Certificate of Completion.
  • Official English language proficiency test results.
  • A clear copy of a valid passport.
  • Emirates ID (for UAE residents).
  • Official test reports submitted using:
