Program Description

The KSU Fellowship in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) is a comprehensive 5-year structured training program. It is designed to graduate independent surgeons with high standards of clinical judgment and surgical skill in head and neck surgery.

-Clinical & Surgical Mastery: Independently perform complex surgeries, including mastoidectomiesendoscopic sinus surgeryseptoplasties, and head and neck tumor resections.

-Specialized Diagnostic Skills: Expertly interpret audiological data (Audiograms, Tympanometry), vestibular testing, and advanced imaging such as high-resolution CT (HRCT) and MRI of the internal auditory canal.

-Emergency Management: Demonstrate high-level proficiency in managing critical ENT emergencies, such as acute airway obstructionepistaxis, and deep neck space infections.

-Multidisciplinary Leadership: Lead specialized clinical teams and participate in Tumor Boards and Cochlear Implant Committees to provide integrated patient care.

-Academic Communication: Effectively teach junior residents and medical students, and communicate complex surgical risks clearly to patients and their families.

  • Medical Degree: An MBBS or equivalent from a recognized university with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5/5 or “Good.”
  • Internship: Successful completion of a one-year rotating internship, including dedicated time in surgical specialties.
  • Licensing Exam: A valid and competitive score on the Saudi Medical Licensing Examination (SMLE).
  • Professional Standing: Valid registration with the SCFHS and a “Certificate of Good Standing.”
  • Health Fitness: Candidates must pass a comprehensive medical fitness test.

First Year – Junior Residency (R1) – First Semester
Focus Area: Foundational

  • ANAT101 – Basic Anatomy (ENT Focus) – 3 Credit Hours

  • PHYS101 – Physiology (ENT Focus) – 3 Credit Hours

  • ENT101 – Emergency ENT Care – 3 Credit Hours

First Year – Junior Residency (R1) – Second Semester
Focus Area: Foundational

  • PEDENT501 – Complex Pediatric ENT Cases – 3 Credit Hours
