Program Description

To cultivate a generation proficient in Arabic language sciences, equipped with academic excellence and research capabilities to meet the demands of the labor market in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

Graduates are expected to achieve advanced proficiency in the following areas:
  • Linguistic Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of Arabic grammar (Nahw), morphology (Sarf), and rhetoric (Balagha), enabling the production of error-free professional and creative writing.
  • Literary Analysis: The ability to critically analyze classical and modern poetry and prose using various schools of literary criticism and analytical tools.
  • Research Skills: Proficiency in conducting scientific research in Arabic studies, including the ability to utilize digital resources and modern technology for linguistic data analysis.
  • Cultural Context: A deep understanding of Arab-Islamic civilization and its historical influence on language and literature.
  • Communication Proficiency: Mastery of standard Arabic (Fusha) in oral and written forms, suitable for professional environments such as media, diplomacy, and education.
  • Professional Ethics: Adherence to the ethics of the literary and educational professions, including academic integrity in research.
  • The College of Humanities and Social Sciences Council determines the number of students admitted in accordance with the Kingdom’s comprehensive development plan.
  • Applicants must have a minimum score of 85% in secondary school.
  • Applicants must meet the general admission requirements of King Saud University as stipulated in the Undergraduate Study and Examination Regulations.
  • No additional special requirements apply to admission to the Department of Arabic Language and Literature.
