Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology will be able to:

• describe and apply key concepts, principles and overarching themes in psychology
• apply evidence-based thinking, technical skills and ethical principles to the process of designing and analyzing psychological research
• interpret, explain and evaluate scientific sources of information, both verbally and in writing
• apply psychological knowledge to the development of personal and professional goals and skills
• demonstrate an understanding of social and cultural factors that influence human behavior

AUS students transferring into the program must have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. At the discretion of the department, students who do not meet this requirement may be allowed to register for PSY 101 and PSY 250. Students who successfully complete PSY 101 and PSY 250 with an average of 2.50 or above will be admitted into the program.

• Foundational Courses: Introduction to Psychology and Research Methods I are core requirements, and successful completion is necessary for formal admission into the program for transfer students.
• Core Psychological Knowledge: The curriculum covers key concepts, principles, and overarching themes in psychology, such as social psychology, developmental psychology, health psychology, and more.
• Research & Statistics: A strong emphasis is placed on research methodology, statistics, and analysis skills.
• Ethics & Culture: The program fosters the development of cultural, social, and ethical competence.
• Electives: Students also complete a wide range of complementary liberal arts electives.
