Program Description

Providing a distinguished program that ensures the development of qualified scientists and consultants in food science who are capable of advancing the field through impactful and innovative research, disseminating knowledge with creative thinking, harnessing technology and its applications, supplying society with science- and evidence-based knowledge, and establishing distinguished partnerships with the scientific community and other sectors.

First: Knowledge

K1
Demonstrate an advanced, expert-level understanding of specialized topics in food sciences, with awareness of their impacts and intersections with other scientific disciplines.

K2
Master a wide range of laboratory techniques and protocols, as well as advanced data analysis models, contributing to driving substantive developments in the field of food sciences.

K3
Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate, scientifically challenge, and assess current knowledge in food sciences, and to propose appropriate modifications and corrections.

Second: Skills

S1
Professionally leverage various communication platforms and media outlets to disseminate scientific research findings, contributing to influencing scientific trends and shaping public policy.

Demonstrate the ability to responsibly lead complex, innovative projects in multicultural environments, showing a high level of adaptability, flexibility, and mentoring capability.

Design and implement innovative research projects using advanced methodologies, with the aim of producing and publishing original and pioneering research that generates new insights in food sciences.

According to the Unified Bylaws for Graduate Studies in Saudi Universities, and in addition to the organizational and executive rules and procedures at King Saud University, the department sets the following conditions for the admission of graduate students:

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in a relevant field (such as Food Science, Human Nutrition, or a related discipline) from King Saud University or from any other university recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Education, with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.75 out of 5, or its equivalent.

Applicants must obtain a minimum score of 5 in the IELTS exam or its equivalent.

Admission is subject to competitive selection among applicants based on the department’s criteria and is contingent upon the department’s available capacity.
