Program Description

The program contributes to the development of both academic and practical extension work by graduating highly qualified personnel in the field of agricultural extension and conducting scientific studies and research. These efforts help provide evidence-based solutions to challenges facing the agricultural sector and support the achievement of sustainable agricultural development.

  • Research Leadership: Ability to design and lead scientific studies that address the evolving challenges of the Saudi agricultural sector.
  • Innovation Transfer: Proficiency in the transfer and adoption of modern, sustainable agricultural technologies from research to the farming community.
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to provide scientific solutions for complex rural sociology and economic issues impacting community standard of living.
  • Specialized Expertise: Mastery of the advanced skills needed to serve in higher education, research centers, and international agricultural organizations.
  • Sustainable Practices: Knowledge of managing natural resources mindful of sustainability, particularly water and arid-land challenges.
Applicants must meet both the university-wide Unified Graduate Studies Regulations and department-specific criteria:
  • Degree: A Master’s degree in Agricultural Extension or Rural Society from KSU or an accredited university with a minimum GPA of “Very Good” (3.75/5.0).
  • Related Fields: Holders of a Master’s degree in other Agricultural Sciences may be accepted but are typically required to pass complementary courses assigned by the department.
  • English Proficiency: A minimum score of 45 in TOEFL-iBT, 4 in IELTS-Academic, or 60 in STEP (unless otherwise specified by the department).
  • Aptitude Testing: A minimum score of 70 in the General Abilities Test for Undergraduates.
