Program Description

The program aims to develop fluency in Persian while building professional translation skills. It highlights the strategic importance of the language due to its use by approximately 140 million people across Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan.

Graduates are expected to achieve specific competencies that align with both academic standards and the Saudi labor market:
  • Linguistic Proficiency: Mastery of reading, writing, and speaking in Persian, utilizing the commonalities with the Arabic alphabet to accelerate fluency.
  • Translation & Interpretation Mastery: Ability to perform written translation and oral interpretation in specialized fields, including economicmedialegal, and political sectors.
  • Cultural & Historical Depth: A solid foundation in Persian culture and civilization, enabling students to act as intercultural mediators.
  • Technical & Research Skills: Proficiency in using modern linguistic tools, specialized dictionaries, and computers to enhance professional performance and conduct academic research.
  • Professional Responsibility: Commitment to the ethical standards of translation and the ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative environments.
  • Academic Qualification: A high school diploma or its equivalent with a high academic score (typically 90% or higher is recommended).
  • Standardized Testing (Saudi Nationals):
    • General Aptitude Test (GAT): Mandatory for entry into the track.
    • Achievement Test (SAAT): Used to calculate the composite admission score.
  • Common First Year (CFY): Students must first complete the Humanities Colleges Track. Specialization in the Persian major occurs after the CFY, based on the student’s cumulative GPA and available seats.
  • International Students: May apply through the Study in Saudi portal. Non-Arabic speakers are typically required to complete an Arabic language diploma before starting the bachelor’s program.
  • Age and Fitness: Applicants must generally be between 17 and 25 years old and pass a medical fitness examination.
