Program Description

The Pathology Residency Program provides specialized training in anatomical and clinical pathology.

By the end of their training, residents are expected to:

  1. Acquire the technical skills necessary for the practice of clinical pathology.
  2. Write Pathology reports.
  3. Acquire problem solving and critical analysis skills fundamental for the practice of Pathology.
  4. Formulate a diagnosis or differential diagnosis.
  5. Screen gynecologic smears and sign up negative pap smears.
  6. Direct Pathology technicians.
  7. Participate in Departmental Pathology Conferences.
  8. Practice continuous self-education.

Medical diploma, certified secondary school certificate, official updated university transcript, passing colloquium exam for Lebanese, IFOM exam, 3 recommendation letters, personal interview.

Key aspects of the curriculum and expected outcomes include:
  • Anatomical Pathology (AP) and Laboratory Medicine (LM): The program encompasses training in both areas.
  • Skill Acquisition: Residents are expected to acquire the technical skills necessary for the practice of clinical pathology, write pathology reports, formulate diagnoses or differential diagnoses, and direct pathology technicians.
  • Cytopathology: A specific skill mentioned is screening gynecologic smears and signing out negative pap smears.
  • Conferences: Active participation in departmental pathology conferences is required.
