Program Description

The program aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical sports coaching by developing highly skilled staff for Saudi sports sectors.

1. Knowledge and Understanding
  • Scientific Principles: Master the physiological, biomechanical, and psychological foundations that govern human movement and athletic performance.
  • Training Methodologies: Understand advanced theories in planning training loads, periodization, and long-term athlete development.
  • Research Literacy: Comprehend quantitative and qualitative research designs specific to the sports sector.
2. Intellectual & Cognitive Skills
  • Performance Analysis: Critically evaluate athletic performance using modern technological tools and data analytics.
  • Problem Solving: Develop scientific solutions for common training issues, such as overtraining, injury recovery, and plateaus in performance.
  • Strategic Planning: Design comprehensive training programs tailored to different age groups and elite competition levels.
3. Professional and Practical Skills
  • Advanced Testing: Conduct sophisticated laboratory and field tests to measure physical fitness, aerobic capacity, and muscular power.
  • Technological Proficiency: Use specialized software for motion analysis and physiological monitoring.
  • Communication: Effectively present scientific findings to coaching staffs, athletes, and stakeholders in the Ministry of Sport.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Physical Education or Sport Sciences from an accredited university. Applicants from other disciplines may be required to take bridging courses.
  • GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of “Very Good” (3.75/5.00) for the academic track. (The Executive Master in Sports Coaching accepts a GPA of 2.75/5.00).
  • Standardized Tests:
    • Post-Graduate General Aptitude Test (PGAT): A minimum score of 70 is typically required.
    • English Proficiency: While primarily taught in Arabic, some tracks require a basic proficiency score (e.g., STEP or IELTS) depending on the specific research focus.
  • Departmental Requirements:
    • Passing a personal interview.
    • Successful completion of a written entrance exam (if applicable).
  • Approval: Candidates employed in the public sector must provide official employer’s approval to study.
