Program Description

The program aims to create a suitable scientific environment for the development of teaching skills for teachers of Arabic as a second language, according to the latest methodologies, techniques and contemporary teaching aids, by providing them with necessary cognitive, methodological and practical competencies. 

1. Pedagogical & Classroom Skills

  • Instructional Delivery: Ability to prepare mini-lessons and teach across all linguistic levels (beginner to advanced).
  • Classroom Management: Mastering the skills required for efficient class management and professional teacher performance.
  • Assessment: Constructing and evaluating comprehensive language tests and measuring student proficiency.
2. Applied Linguistic Knowledge
  • Theoretical Mastery: Explaining modern approaches, theories, and methodologies specifically for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.
  • Linguistic Analysis: Describing levels of linguistic analysis and using contrastive linguistics to identify and classify learner errors.
  • Applied Research: Conducting and evaluating applied linguistics research, articles, and scientific reports.
3. Technology & Materials Development
  • Tech Integration: Mastering the use of educational technology and computers to enhance the Arabic learning experience.
  • Material Design: Organizing, developing, and evaluating educational materials and curricula based on scientific foundations.
4. Cultural & Sociolinguistic Awareness
  • Cultural Instruction: Deepening knowledge of Islamic culture and civilization to act as an “ambassador” of the language.
  • Pragmatics: Understanding and applying concepts of pragmatics and conversational sequencing in second-language classrooms.

-Academic Degree: A full-time bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language or Islamic Studies from KSU or any accredited university.

-GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of “Very Good” (3.75/5.0) or equivalent.

-Standardized Tests:
A minimum score of 65 in the General Aptitude Test (Qudurat) OR a total score of 265 in the GRE-General test.
While the program is Arabic-focused, KSU generally requires a proof of English proficiency (e.g., IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent) for many graduate tracks.

-Supporting Documents: Two letters of recommendation from academic professors.

-Professional Status: Some tracks within the Arabic Linguistics Institute prioritize applicants who are currently practicing teachers of Arabic to non-native speakers.

-Departmental Exam: Successful completion of a written entrance examination and/or personal interview held by the department.
