Program Description

The Department of English Language and Literature has started offering a Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature with two tracks; the dissertation track and The comprehensive exam track. The student can choose to specialize in Literature, Translation or Linguistics.

Graduates of the program are expected to achieve the following outcomes:
Knowledge and Understanding:
  • Identify and understand key critical theories and schools in linguistics, literature, and translation.
  • Comprehend significant works across different literary genres and historical periods.
  • Interpret literary texts within their cultural, socio-political, and historical contexts.
Skills:
  • Analyze literary texts using various literary and cultural approaches.
  • Utilize appropriate methodologies for specialized research in literary and linguistic studies.
  • Develop advanced English language skills.
Competencies and Application:
  • Apply analytical and critical skills to understand cultural, social, and political phenomena.
  • Collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
  • Exhibit professional and ethical conduct.
Required documents:
  • A bachelor’s degree in English or a related field, with transcripts.
  • A certified copy of the higher diploma (if applicable).
  • A passport copy.
  • Three personal photos.
  • An original or certified copy of your birth certificate.
  • For Jordanian students: a copy of your ID card and military service book (for males).
  • A certificate of good conduct and behavior from the previous university (for transferring students).
