Program Description

The program focuses on the substantive and procedural aspects of criminal law, along with criminal justice systems, theory, and policy.

  • Advanced legal knowledge: Develop a deep and specialized understanding of criminal law theory and practice, including both substantive law and criminal procedure.
  • Research and analytical skills: Hone the ability to conduct independent research, analyze complex legal issues, and write persuasive legal arguments.
  • Critical evaluation: Learn to critically evaluate legal rules, procedures, and judicial decisions within the context of criminal justice.
  • Professional preparation: Prepare for advanced professional roles, such as becoming a specialized criminal lawyer, a legal scholar, a government prosecutor, or an investigator.
  • Policy and theory: Understand the theoretical underpinnings and policy implications of criminal law, and potentially contribute to policy discussions or research.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and must meet the specific admission requirements, which include a high school certificate or equivalent for general admission, and potentially a minimum GPA or specific undergraduate courses for the master’s program itself.
