Program Description

To prepare researchers specialized in Arabic language and literature capable of contributing to academic research, fostering critical thinking, and serving the community in linguistic and literary fields.

  • Advanced Research & Analysis: The ability to conduct independent scientific research that contributes to cultural and intellectual development using modern theories.
  • Linguistic & Literary Expertise: A strong academic foundation in Arabic language and literature, including the ability to analyze texts through critical thinking.
  • Professional Communication: Competence in professional writing and communication, preparing students for the job market and community service.
  • Ethical Scholarship: A deep commitment to academic integrity and the ethical standards of scientific research.
  • Social & Professional Contribution: The ability to meet the needs of society by applying specialized knowledge in various professional and academic contexts.
  • Previous Degree: You must hold a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature from KSU or another recognized university.
  • GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 out of 5.0 (“Very Good”) or its equivalent is generally required.
  • Testing:
    • Departmental Exam: Passing a written entrance examination held by the department is mandatory.
    • GAT: A score of at least 70% in the General Aptitude Test (GAT) for university students may be required for certain humanitarian tracks.
  • Interview: Successful completion of a personal interview with the department.
  • Nationality: Applicants should be Saudi citizens, though international students can apply if they have a formal scholarship.
  • Recommendations: You must submit at least two academic recommendation letters from professors who have previously taught you.
  • Employer Approval: If you are currently employed, you must provide written consent from your employer to enroll in the program.
  • Fitness & Conduct: Proof of good conduct and medical fitness is required.
