Program Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutics at King Saud University (KSU) is an advanced research degree designed to provide specialized training for careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, and healthcare institutions.

The program focuses on developing independent researchers through the following key competencies:
  • Advanced Research Skills:
    • Expertise in formulating scientific hypotheses and designing rigorous experiments to test them.
    • Proficiency in laboratory data analysis and the use of statistical methods to interpret results.
    • Advanced skills in evaluating scientific references and critically appraising existing pharmaceutical literature.
  • Specialized Knowledge:
    • In-depth mastery of theories and fundamentals of pharmaceutics and emerging scientific developments in the field.
    • Comprehensive understanding of dosage form production, granulation techniques, and methods to enhance drug bioavailability.
  • Scientific Communication:
    • Ability to write and publish high-quality research reports and papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
    • Skills in presenting research findings in public seminars and defending a thesis before a scientific committee.
  • Ethics & Professionalism:
    • Thorough knowledge of research ethics and legal issues associated with professional pharmaceutical practice.
    • Development of leadership and time management skills necessary to manage research teams and complex projects.
  1. General requirements as stated in the unified regulations governing postgraduate studies in Saudi universities.
  2. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a Saudi university or any recognized university.
  3. Holding a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutics or any related pharmaceutical science; the department may add any necessary supplementary courses.
  4. Achieving a score of 500 or higher on the TOEFL English proficiency exam or equivalent.
  5. Passing a personal interview in the Pharmaceutics Department.
