Program Description

The Department of Chinese Language offers an integrated academic program in Chinese, aimed at developing students’ skills in all aspects of the Chinese language.

The program aims to enable male and female students to achieve the following:

  • Through language skills courses, students will be able to master basic skills in Chinese, allowing them to communicate effectively with native speakers. These skills are essential in education, translation, and international business activities, and also contribute to enhancing the ability of graduates to work in multicultural environments.

  • Through specialized courses in Chinese language, history and culture, students will understand Chinese civilization. This understanding is essential for students looking to work in academia, diplomacy, or in companies with business ties to China, as they become better able to cope with diverse cultural contexts.

  • Mastering the Chinese language is necessary in translation, international relations and education. In today’s world, with the growing ties between China and Arab countries in various fields, graduates can play an active role in facilitating cultural and trade exchange, which enhances their professional opportunities.

  • The program provides a modern learning environment, which enables students to interact directly with the Chinese culture through cultural activities or cooperation with Chinese institutions, especially during field training in the project course. This hands-on interaction enhances their understanding of culture and makes them more willing to work in sectors that require deep cultural knowledge such as tourism, media, and the arts.

  • With the increasing economic and trade cooperation between China, Saudi Arabia and Arab countries, graduates are opening wide doors of career opportunities in economic and trade sectors.( opening doors of career opportunities wide open in economic and trade sectors) Proficiency in Chinese gives them a competitive advantage in the labor market, which increases their chances of getting jobs in institutions that deal with China or seek to expand their relations with it.

  • Academic Qualification: A high school diploma or its equivalent from a recognized institution is required.
  • Standardized Tests (for Saudis):
    • General Aptitude Test (GAT): Mandatory score for the competitive track.
    • Achievement Test (SAAT): Used to calculate the composite score for admission.
  • Common First Year (CFY): Students are typically admitted to the Humanities Colleges Track first. Enrollment in the Chinese major depends on the student’s performance during this year and available seats.
  • Nationality & Age: Open primarily to Saudi nationals under 25 years of age. International students can apply via Study in Saudi scholarship initiatives.
  • Health and Conduct: Applicants must pass a medical examination and have a record of good conduct.
