Program Description

It offers an exciting curriculum covering the fundamentals of computer science, including mathematical reasoning, algorithmic thinking, and programming. It also includes project-oriented courses to provide a practical experience that spans the entire spectrum of computer science including programming, algorithms, databases, networking, mobile and web development, software engineering, big data, machine learning, and computer security.

Student Outcomes of the Computer Science program

The Student Outcomes (SOs) of the Computer Science program are:

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.

Students Outcomes of the Computer Science program with Cybersecurity Concentration

The Student Outcomes (SOs) of the Computer Science program are:

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
  7. Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.

Students are admitted competitively in accordance with QU defined admission requirements including satisfying the minimum high school percentage requirement. In addition, applicants must either satisfy the University competency requirements or successfully complete all requirements of the Foundation Program
