Bachelor of Science in Biology provides strong foundation in life sciences with focus on laboratory research and field work, preparing students for medical school or graduate studies
Program Description
Upon graduation, our students will be able to:
- identify and carry out thoughtful approaches to biology-related problems, understand ethical issues, and analyze biological threats to the environment
- demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of various molecular, cell and ecological techniques, instruments and equipment
- define simple research tasks, carry them out and use appropriate statistical analysis in the treatment of data
- produce written and oral reports in the style most commonly used in scientific literature
High school diploma with minimum 80% average or equivalent, English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 80 or EmSAT 1550), SAT or equivalent aptitude test, motivation letter and recommendation letters for specialized programs
The curriculum is structured to ground students in fundamental concepts and theories of the biological, natural, and physical sciences through a mix of coursework, advanced laboratory facilities, field trips, and independent study.

- Foundational Biology: Introductory Biology I and II, General Botany, and Invertebrate Zoology.
- Core Biological Sciences: Molecular and Cell Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Vertebrate Anatomy and Physiology.
- Ecology and Environment: Ecology, Environmental Biology, Marine Ecology, and Desert Ecology.
- Quantitative and Research Skills: Quantitative Biology, Seminar in Biology, and a Senior Research Thesis.
- Specialized/Elective Areas: Immunology, Tumor Biology, Animal Behavior, Introduction to Bioinformatics, and specific topics like the Environmental Biology of the Red Sea.
