Program Description

The Department of Business Administration is the first department to launch its programmes in the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences. The department grants degrees in Business Administration in two tracks (Arabic and English). The department also grants Master’s Degrees in Business Administration (MBA). All programmes study plans are continuously reviewed and updated to keep pace with the developments and requirements of the rapid changes and requirements in the business world.

Prerequisite: None
This course introduces contemporary management concepts, principles, theories, and practices in business. Topics include the nature and importance of management, evolution of management thought, and management functions such as planning, decision-making, organizing, directing, and controlling. Students also learn about organizational functions including production and operations, purchasing, marketing, human resources, logistics, financial management, research and development, and knowledge management.

302101 – Principles of Microeconomics (3:3-0)
Prerequisite: None
An introduction to economics, addressing the economic problem, resource allocation, and value theories. Emphasis is placed on supply and demand, market equilibrium, price determination, and elasticity.

302111 – Principles of Statistics (3:3-0)
Prerequisite: None
This course covers statistical concepts, research methods, sampling, data collection, and classification. It includes descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis, time series, index numbers, and an introduction to probability theory.

303101 – Principles of Accounting (1) (3:3-0)
Prerequisite: None
Covers the definition and role of accounting, accounting principles, concepts, and postulates. Topics include the accounting cycle, accounting systems, the accounting equation, cash and accrual methods, error correction, adjustments, and preparation of financial statements.

304101 – Introduction to e-Business (3:3-0)
Prerequisite: None
Introduces the foundations of e-business, its evolution, integrated e-supply chain management, virtual communities and e-markets, e-marketing, e-payment systems, e-government services, security in e-business, and the impact of social, ethical, and cultural issues.

304200 – Management Information Systems and Finance (3:3-0)
Prerequisite: 304102
Introduces MIS concepts and applications in organizations, including classification, functions, components, and technology infrastructure. Covers e-business, e-commerce, information security, and resource management. Labs provide hands-on practice with MS Access.

306101 – Principles of Marketing (3:3-0)
Prerequisite: None
Covers marketing definitions, foundations, functions, and stages. Students study the marketing environment, marketing mix (product, price, promotion, distribution), market segmentation, consumer behavior, marketing information systems, and international marketing.

Focuses on production and operations management concepts, strategies, and quantitative methods. Topics include demand forecasting, facility layout, process strategies, capacity planning, supply chain management, process design, quality control, aggregate planning, and scheduling.

Introduces organizational definitions, structures, elements, importance, and dimensions. Covers organizational models, design, job design, authority relationships, coordination, and design determinants such as environment, size, strategy, and technology.

Explores supply chain concepts, strategic roles, efficient resource use, information flow, value creation, logistics, production processes, forecasting, internal manufacturing, outsourcing, marketing, sales, inventory, transportation, distribution operations, and supply chain design.

Prerequisite: 301101
Covers contemporary business challenges, social responsibility, and measurement of organizational social activities. Students learn about corporate ethics, ethical frameworks for decision-making, and the integration of social responsibility and ethics across organizational functions.

Covers workforce design and planning, recruitment, selection, assignment, compensation, performance evaluation, training, development, HR sustainability (safety and health), and labor relations, with emphasis on strategic HR roles.

Provides essential knowledge and tools for efficient hospital management, including administrative processes, hospital functions, information systems, quality control, and accreditation standards.
