Program Description

The program is designed to provide students of the program with high quality education and basic scientific research skills in chemistry to meet the contemporary needs of the society.

Knowledge & Understanding:

    • Describe and apply fundamental concepts and principles of chemistry.
    • Recognize and integrate advanced theories of chemical methods and techniques.
    • Reproduce scientific information and experimental procedures at an advanced level.

Cognitive Skills:

    • Analyze and interpret chemical data by linking concepts with mathematical expressions.
    • Propose creative, evidence-based solutions to complex chemical problems.
    • Design and execute meaningful research projects using cutting-edge methodologies.

Communication & IT:

    • Present scientific findings effectively in both oral and written formats to diverse audiences.
    • Utilize advanced information technology to gather and interpret chemical literature.

Safety & Ethics:

    • Demonstrate mastery of appropriate safety techniques and risk management for hazardous materials.
    • Adhere to a high level of commitment to scientific and professional ethics.
  • Admission and registration procedures must follow the regulations of the Higher Graduate Deanship of King Saud University.
  • Supplementary courses, deemed necessary by the Department Council, for any graduate from a chemistry department in any institute other than King Saud University.
  • The student should pass the exams with grade “good” at least in each course, and at least with grade “very good” in all courses (cumulative). The student should have attained in his undergraduate studies at least a grade of “very good” and it may be possible to admit a student with a grade of “good+” in accordance with Article 15 of the Higher Studies Statutes at King Saud University.
  • The admission is for full-time registration. However, part – time study may be permitted during the period of studying the courses and before the registration of the dissertation.

CHEM530 – Advanced Chemical Kinetics – 2 Credit Hours
CHEM540 – Stereochemistry – 2 Credit Hours
CHEM550 – Spectrometric Methods of Analysis & Automation – 2 Credit Hours

First Year – Second Semester

CHEM520 – Quantum Chemistry and Its Applications – 2 Credit Hours
CHEM531 – Advanced Chemical Thermodynamics – 2 Credit Hours
