Program Description

The program is designed to give the student greater breadth and depth of technical and practical industrial engineering knowledge and skills that are necessary for developing a knowledge-based industry and solving effectively and efficiently the encountered problems that face the industrial revolution of the country.

Graduates are expected to master several core competencies categorized by research, professional, and ethical skills:
  • Advanced Research Proficiency:
    • Perform independent, original research and apply scientific methodologies within a broader industrial context.
    • Critically evaluate their own research and the work of others.
    • Develop innovative solutions for unexplored topics in fields like Industrial SystemsHuman Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Communication & Knowledge Transfer:
      • Convey state-of-the-art knowledge professionally to various institutions, including academia and research labs.
      • Demonstrate proficient oral and written skills for substantive technological content
        in publications, grant projects, and conferences.

  • Professionalism & Leadership:
      • Manage multiple research activities while adhering to ethical research standards.
      • Exhibit leadership by working independently and within teams to contribute positively to society.
      • Maintain high integrity and awareness of the social and ethical impacts of academic and professional practices.
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree under the regular study system from King Saud University or from any other recognized institution, with a grade of no less than Very Good and a cumulative GPA of 3.75 out of 5 or its equivalent.

  • The applicant must hold a Master of Science degree under the regular study system in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from King Saud University or from any other recognized institution, with a grade of no less than Very Good (if the awarding university uses a grading system) and a cumulative GPA of 3.75 out of 5 or its equivalent.
    Applicants must contact the department to verify whether their specialization is considered a related discipline before submitting an application through the electronic admission portal.

  • The applicant must obtain a minimum score of 6.0 in the IELTS Academic test or its equivalent.

  • The applicant must obtain a score of 151 in the quantitative section of the GRE General test. This requirement is waived for applicants who hold a Master’s degree by thesis from the Department of Electrical Engineering at King Saud University with a GPA of no less than 4.25 out of 5, provided that no more than two years have elapsed since obtaining the master’s degree.
