Program Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is dedicated to providing exceptional education and innovative research that serves society and advances knowledge. 1. Knowledge (Core Physics Principles)

1.1 Define the fundamental concepts of the discipline.
1.2 Outline recent developments and advances in the field of physics.
1.3 Recognize and describe various types of scientific equipment used in physics.

2. Skills (Modeling and Analysis)

2.1 Apply theoretical and/or computational models to formulate and solve problems in the core areas of physics.
2.2 Demonstrate the ability to design and perform new experiments to test scientific hypotheses and ideas.
2.3 Collect, analyze, and interpret data obtained from theoretical models and experimental work.
2.4 Evaluate and critically assess theoretical predictions and experimental results.

3. Values (Communication and Responsibility)

3.1 Conduct scholarly and professional activities in an ethical and responsible manner.
3.2 Present problem solutions in a systematic way using appropriate mathematical methods and details.

  • The admission requirements are based on the unified regulations for graduate studies at Saudi universities, which can be accessed through the provided link.
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Physics and Astronomy from various universities in Saudi Arabia or an equivalent degree are eligible for admission.
  • The department requires students to achieve a minimum score of 500 on the TOEFL or an equivalent test, with no more than two years between the last test and the time of application. The department may exempt students from countries where the previous degree was taught in English from this requirement.
  • A minimum score of 450 on the GRE is required.
