Program Description
1. Knowledge and Understanding
- Mechanistic Insight: Describe the molecular and cellular mechanisms of drug actions and the toxicological effects of various chemical agents on biological systems.
- Regulatory Frameworks: Explain the principles of drug discovery, development, and the regulatory requirements for safety assessment.
- Specialized Principles: Master the concepts of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and the pathophysiology underlying drug treatment.
2. Cognitive and Intellectual Skills
- Critical Analysis: Critically evaluate scientific literature and pharmacological data to formulate evidence-based conclusions.
- Problem Solving: Design experimental protocols to investigate specific pharmacological or toxicological hypotheses.
- Integration: Relate chemical structures and biological activities to predict the efficacy and safety of new therapeutic compounds.
3. Professional and Practical Skills
- Laboratory Proficiency: Perform advanced experimental pharmacology and toxicology techniques, including animal handling, bioassays, and molecular biology tools.

In compliance with the unified admission requirements for postgraduate studies in Saudi universities, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the College of Pharmacy at King Saud University or an equivalent degree with a GPA of Very Good or Good with a Very Good grade in Pharmacology courses.
- The department may impose additional requirements, such as requiring students to successfully complete specific courses determined by the department.
