Program Description

The program is designed to transform general dentists into specialists capable of managing complex craniofacial and pediatric oral health issues.

Pediatric Dentistry Learning Outcomes:
  • Comprehensive Care: Provide expert oral health care for infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special healthcare needs.
  • Behavioral Mastery: Proficiency in advanced behavior management, including the safe administration of conscious sedation and dental treatment under general anesthesia.
  • Trauma Management: Expertly diagnose and treat complex traumatic dental injuries in primary and permanent dentition.
  • Preventive Leadership: Design and implement community-based oral health programs and “Dental Home” strategies for pediatric populations.
Orthodontics Learning Outcomes:
  • Diagnostic Precision: Mastery of cephalometric analysis, 3D imaging, and growth prediction to formulate complex orthodontic treatment plans.
  • Technical Proficiency: Independently manage malocclusions using a variety of appliances, including fixed bracesfunctional appliances, and clear aligners.
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Lead the orthodontic phase of treatment for patients requiring orthognathic surgery or multidisciplinary care for cleft lip and palate.
  • Biomechanics Mastery: Apply advanced principles of physics and biomechanics to achieve precise tooth movement and skeletal correction.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: A BDS or DDS from a recognized dental school.
  • GPA Standards: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25/5.00 (or “Good”). Most competitive applicants for Orthodontics often possess a GPA of 4.0/5.0 or higher.
  • Specialty Grades: A minimum grade of “Very Good” in undergraduate courses related to the chosen specialty (Pediatric Dentistry or Orthodontics).
  • Internship: Completion of a one-year rotating internship in dentistry.
Master’s in Pediatric Dentistry (PDS)

Program Focus:
Advanced oral healthcare for infants, children, and adolescents, including patients with special healthcare needs.

First Year – Foundational Year

Academic Focus:
Foundations of pediatric dentistry, research principles, and basic clinical skills.

Clinical Training:

Second Year – Advanced Clinical Year
