Program Description

 The program aims to prepare scientists who will contribute to discovering and expanding scientific knowledge, which in turn will advance the various fields of nursing science and practice.

The program aims to prepare nurse scientists and leaders who can: 
  • Contribute to Scientific Knowledge: Discover and expand nursing science through original, rigorous research.
  • Propose Evidence-Based Solutions: Analyze complex nursing problems within the healthcare system and develop effective, scientifically-grounded solutions.
  • Align with International Standards: Master advanced nursing specializations that meet global standards, enhancing the quality of local healthcare.
  • Lead Healthcare Policy: Develop the leadership skills necessary to influence healthcare improvement and policy development at both national and international levels.
  • Advance Nursing Practice: Translate research findings into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes and safety. 

 

 

1) General Criteria for Admission to Graduate Programs at King Saud University

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree from a recognized institution with a minimum GPA of Very Good (3.75/5) or equivalent.
  • Submission of two supporting recommendation letters for admission.

2) Program-Specific Criteria at the College

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (full-time) from King Saud University or another recognized institution with a GPA not less than Very Good (3.75/5) or equivalent (if the university grants grades).
  • Minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS Academic or its equivalent.
  • Professional classification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • Passing the written exam administered by the department with a score of 60% or higher.
  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in the field of specialization.
Phase One – Coursework & Qualification

Core Coursework
Advanced theoretical foundations in health and medical sciences – Core Requirement
Research methodologies and applied research skills – Core Requirement
Specialized nursing disciplines – Core Requirement

Qualifying Examination
Written qualifying examination in the area of specialization – Mandatory
Oral qualifying examination in the area of specialization – Mandatory

Successful completion of coursework and qualifying examinations is required to proceed to the research phase.

Phase Two – Research & Dissertation

Research Proposal
Development and defense of an approved research proposal – Program Requirement

Dissertation Project
Independent original research contributing to scientific knowledge in nursing – Program Requirement

Dissertation Defense
Final oral defense of the dissertation – Program Requirement
