Program Description

The Ph.D. program in Computer Engineering contributes to providing graduate studies and advanced research in the fields of computer engineering, thereby helping to prepare qualified researchers and faculty members in the field of computer engineering.

Graduates are expected to achieve advanced competencies in technical, research, and professional domains:
  • Knowledge & Application: Ability to apply advanced principles of mathematics, science, and engineering to solve complex research problems.
  • Experimental Design: Competence in designing and conducting experiments, as well as analyzing and interpreting sophisticated data sets.
  • Problem Formulation: Ability to accurately identify, formulate, and solve high-level engineering problems.
  • Innovative Research: Capability to perform independent and original research that contributes to global scientific advancement.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Proficiency in oral and written communication for publishing scientific papers and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ethical Responsibility: Deep understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities in scientific inquiry and engineering practice.

In addition to the admission requirements enumerated in the Unified Law Organizing Graduate Studies at Saudi Universities, the department has the following additional requirements:

  1. BSc from King Saud University or its equivalent in one of the following majors: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer related disciplines.
  2. MSc from King Saud University or its equivalent in one of the following majors: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer related disciplines.
  3. A minimum of (4 out 5) GPA or it’s equivalent.
  4. Obtain a grade of at least (75) in the Quantitative part of Qiyas Exam or at least (144) in the quantitative part of the GRE.
  5. A minimum of (61) in the TOEFL-IBT exam or its equivalent.
