Program Description

The program is designed to produce competent, compassionate midwives who provide holistic care to women and newborns.

  • Clinical Competence: Provide comprehensive care for women during the pre-conception, prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including conducting spontaneous vaginal deliveries.
  • Neonatal Care: Assess and manage the health of newborns, including the ability to perform basic neonatal resuscitation and promote breastfeeding.
  • Emergency Response: Demonstrate the ability to detect deviations from normal physiological processes and initiate emergency measures or referrals for high-risk cases.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: Apply scientific research and clinical evidence to midwifery practice to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
  • Ethical & Professional Conduct: Adhere to the Saudi health regulations and ethical frameworks regarding patient autonomy, privacy, and informed consent.
  • Communication & Counseling: Provide effective health education and psychological support to women and their families regarding family planning and reproductive health.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Collaborate efficiently within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
  • Gender: This program is currently restricted to female applicants only.
  • Unified Health Track: You must first complete the Common First Year (CFY) in the Health Sciences track. Admission to the Midwifery major happens after this year based on your GPA and available seats.
  • Composite Score: Your entry is determined by a weighted score, typically calculated as:
    • 30% Cumulative GPA from High School.
    • 30% General Aptitude Test (GAT/Qudrat).
    • 40% Achievement Test (Tahsili).
  • English Proficiency: While specific STEP scores vary by year, high performance in the CFY English courses is critical for transitioning into the college.
  • Medical Fitness: Applicants must pass a standard medical examination to ensure they can perform the physical and clinical duties required in a maternity ward.
