Program Description

The program is designed to contribute to the production of a media generation that understands technologies and the media message on scientific foundations to raise the level of professional performance. 

  • Scientific & Theoretical Integration: Ability to combine advanced theoretical media studies with practical applications to solve complex communication challenges.
  • Specialized Research Skills: Proficiency in conducting original scientific research and writing peer-reviewed dissertations that contribute to the knowledge economy.
  • Technological Literacy: Mastery of modern digital tools and technologies used in the production and management of audio, visual, and print media content.
  • Professional Performance: Development of high-level professional skills to increase competitiveness in the local and regional labor market.
  • Cultural & Ethical Alignment: Ability to address media issues within the framework of Islamic values, social ethics, and the goals of sustainable development (Saudi Vision 2030).

In addition to the admission conditions contained in the unified regulations for postgraduate studies in Saudi universities and the organizational and executive rules and procedures for postgraduate studies at King Saud University, the department requires the following:

  1.      The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication (Regularity) with a grade of at least very good.
  2.      The applicant must obtain a minimum score of 70% on the general aptitude test for university graduates.
Thesis Track (Traditional Research)

Total Credits: 33 Credit Hours

Core Coursework – 15 Credit Hours

First Year – Second Semester

Core and Elective Coursework – 15 Credit Hours

Second Year – First Semester

Thesis Preparation and Research – 3 Credit Hours

Thesis Requirement

Master’s Thesis – Completion of a scholarly thesis approved by specialized faculty members.

Program Goal

Provide advanced academic training in Public Media through a combination of theoretical study and practical research, preparing specialized researchers in the field.
