Program Description

Master in Interior Design offers two tracks: thesis track for academic work and comprehensive exam track for design team leadership in practical field.

– Developing and deepening students’ skills at the theoretical and applied levels, to support their work as leading designers and academics in the local, regional and global markets.
A deep understanding of the important concepts in interior design to include advanced studies in the concepts of color, lighting, materials, furniture and the future of modern technology.
– The ability to develop the design conceptual approach to understand the strategies related to the design process as applied on the ground, as well as the possibility of developing them.
– Demonstrate in-depth knowledge to reach an advanced level in preparing functional-design programs for projects in a strategic and sustainable way, and understanding and developing their applications in interior design.
– The ability to communicate advanced detailed and execution plans, specifications and cost requirements, review design plans and methods of modifications, and set schedules allocated to them in modern and contemporary projects as required by the professional designer in the labor market.
– The ability to explore different design methods and trends so that the designer presents ideas and methods for integrated professional designs that reflect the culture and style of the designer in international markets and academic fields.
– Acquiring advanced technical computer skills and theoretical conceptual foundations to keep pace with the interior design process.
– Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of how to practice the profession in practice and its overlaps with other disciplines, and enhance the designer’s leading role in managing large projects with craftsmen, designers and engineers.
– Developing scientific research methods to produce contemporary and advanced design studies.
– Demonstrate the ability to deal with international companies supplying materials and products related to design and construction, and the skill in extracting the necessary information for use in the design and including its details in the work and in the reports submitted as part of the professional design process.

Bachelor’s degree GPA minimum Good or equivalent, English language test certificate accompanied by authenticated letter.

202711 – Contemporary Interior Design Theories (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Explores the philosophy, theories, and trends of contemporary interior design. Develops students’ creative skills to understand how to shape interior spaces and formulate initial design concepts. Students work through design stages to achieve functional and aesthetic spatial balance using principles, elements, and determinants of design.

202712 – Advanced Scientific Research Methodologies (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Covers the scientific and methodological foundations for preparing research and theses. Emphasizes research in interior design, academic writing techniques, and the selection of suitable topics for advanced interior design research.

202713 – Local and Regional Interior Design (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Provides an analytical and critical study of interior design practices in Jordan and other Arab countries. Students evaluate these experiences, derive insights, and examine trends and tendencies in relation to the local environment.

202714 – Seminar in Sustainable Interior Design (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Focuses on specialized topics in interior design, allowing students to study and present them systematically. May include interior design for people with special needs, safety and security considerations, and environmental studies of interior spaces, enhancing intellectual and practical skills.

202715 – Advanced Studies in Interior Design (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Develops students’ creative sensibilities to complete design ideas and achieve high competence in handling both traditional and unconventional interior spaces.

202721 – Advanced Computer Aided Design (3-0:3)

Prerequisite: None
Advanced study of computer programs for drawing and designing 3D models. Students develop the ability to materialize design concepts and use them as supporting tools in interior design projects.

202722 – Advanced Implementation Techniques in Interior Spaces (2-1:3)

Prerequisite: None
Provides advanced skills for implementing interior design across various spaces. Includes modern technical and structural installations, innovative uses of traditional and new materials, and unconventional approaches for creative design solutions.

202723 – Project Management in Interior Design (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Enhances students’ project management skills, including scheduling, quantity estimation, standards for implementation, and estimating overall project costs.

202724 – Methods of Teaching Interior Design (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Covers various teaching methods and the use of modern technology-based tools for teaching. Focuses on general education and e-learning and develops teaching skills for researchers interested in education.

202725 – Complementary and Accessories of Interior Design (1-2:3)

Prerequisite: None
Study of fixed and movable elements in interior spaces, including paintings, indoor plants, and other movable and fixed items such as natural and artificial materials, accessories, and artifacts.

202731 – Human Engineering and Interior Design (0-3:3)

Prerequisite: None
Explores the human body and its interaction with the surrounding interior environment, including furniture, devices, and architectural elements. Considers physiological, anatomical, and psychological aspects, as well as factors causing discomfort, to achieve safe and comfortable designs.
