Program Description

The program is designed to empower students with fundamental knowledge and research skills in the field of clinical nutrition, coupled with ethical practices, and to prepare them as successful nutrition specialists within a supportive environment that fosters critical thinking and evidence-based practices, thereby serving the nutritional and health status of individuals and communities locally and globally.

1- To provide students with advanced educational experiences in the field of clinical nutrition in accordance with evidence-based practices and international standards, thereby enhancing their professional practice.

2- To instill a culture of ethical conduct and research excellence, and to empower students to participate in multidisciplinary scientific research that advances nutritional knowledge, professional practice, and applied research.

3- To develop students’ personal and professional competencies and to apply their scientific expertise to promote health and serve the community.

In addition to the admission requirements stated in the Unified Bylaws for Graduate Studies in Saudi Universities and the regulatory and executive rules and procedures for graduate studies at King Saud University, the department requires the following:

  • Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from King Saud University or an equivalent institution, with a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 5 or its equivalent.

  • Completion of the internship (clinical training) period in clinical nutrition, or an equivalent period of training/experience as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist.

  • Obtaining professional classification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).

  • Achieving a minimum score of 53 on the Internet-Based TOEFL (IBT) or an equivalent English language test.

  • Passing the written examination conducted by the department.

  • Passing the personal interview conducted by the department.

Note:

The department is currently studying the introduction of specialized tracks within the master’s programs in the field of nutrition, in line with the needs of the discipline and modern academic trends.

Admission requirements for all programs are subject to the regulations and policies approved by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and may be amended in accordance with updated requirements and conditions approved by the Deanship and relevant academic authorities.
