Program Description

 It is designed to provide a deep understanding of human civilization, with a strategic focus on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s heritage and Islamic history.

Graduates of the KSU History program are expected to achieve the following competencies across three primary domains: 
  • Historical Knowledge and Identity
    • Fostering a strong national, Islamic, and Arabic identity through the study of regional history.
    • Gaining specialized knowledge across different historical eras to understand mechanisms of change.
  • Research and Analytical Skills
    • Mastery of scholarly research based on the latest academic methodologies.
    • Development of critical and analytical skills in the field of historical studies to evaluate complex events.
    • Ability to process and synthesize information to logically assess issues and problems.
  • Professional and Academic Skills
    • Proficiency in academic writing and communication skills suitable for university and professional life.
    • Acquisition of thinking skills, including creative and critical thinking, to solve real-world challenges.
    • Preparedness for roles as teachers, researchers, thinkers, and leaders in government or private sectors.
  • Admission Score: Admission is typically based on a composite score calculated from the applicant’s high school GPA, General Aptitude Test (GAT) score, and Achievement Test score.
  • High School Grade: Candidates generally need a minimum high school degree of 85% or higher for admission to the college.
  • Common First Year: Students must first complete the Common First Year track (Humanities) before being assigned to the History major based on competitive seat availability and performance.
  • Credit Hours: While specific totals for the updated History plan vary, similar humanities programs at KSU (such as Mass Communication) require 128 credit hours for graduation.
  • Character & Conduct: Applicants must be of good conduct and, for international students, provide a certificate of good character from their home country.
  • Age Limit: For undergraduate admission, applicants are generally required to be between 17 and 25 years old.
