Program Description

The department applies modern theories in medical education and use field study to prepare students to understand, discover and prepare the right solutions for community health problems.

  • Clinical Competence: Acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills to provide primary, integrated, and continuous healthcare for individuals and families.
  • Preventive Care: Master the principles of preventive medicine, including screening, vaccines, and health promotion for all age groups.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: Demonstrate the ability to search databases, critically appraise medical literature, and apply findings to clinical decision-making.
  • Communication Skills: Develop advanced skills in patient counseling, history taking, and breaking bad news, while maintaining cultural sensitivity.
  • Research & Inquiry: Equip students with qualitative and quantitative research methods to conduct clinical audits or original research projects.
  • Leadership & Management: Demonstrate effective management of health services and lead primary healthcare teams within the community.
  • Professional Ethics: Practice medicine according to professional ethics and Islamic perspectives on medical jurisprudence.
  • Academic Qualification: Hold an MBBS degree or an equivalent recognized by KSU.
  • GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent, such as 3.75 out of 5.0) is typically required for competitive medical programs.
  • English Proficiency: For programs taught in English, applicants must provide scores from tests like TOEFL (iBT min. 61)IELTS (min. 6.0), or the  STEP test.
  • Clinical Training: Successful completion of a one-year rotating internship is mandatory.
  • Career Classification: Applicants must hold a valid career classification/license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
