Program Description

The Executive Master of Public Administration program is designed to accommodate the schedules of administrative leaders. It meets their practical needs, develops their personal capabilities, enriches their expertise, structures their professional experience, and contributes to formulating future visions and solutions to the challenges facing government administrations.

-Knowledge and understanding:

Understand and understand the basic concepts, theories and models in the scientific fields related to the content of the program (public administration, leadership, strategic management, public policy, good governance, human resources management… etc).

Identify the most prominent recent trends and practices at the level of public administration, and understand the nature of the gap between practice and administrative theory and ways to deal with it.

Identify the basic characteristics of the Saudi public administration, and the most important features that distinguish it from other public administration agencies in the countries of the world, and identify the most prominent challenges and various problems it faces.

-Mental Skills:

The skill of recognizing and analyzing problems in the Saudi administrative reality, and generating appropriate alternatives to solve them, as well as the skill of thinking with a strategic approach to foresee the future and predict potential problems at the level of the government administrative apparatus.

The skill of sensing and realizing the internal and external variables surrounding the Saudi public administration, identifying the various opportunities and challenges it holds and how to manage and benefit from them in an efficient manner.

The skill of exploring cases of corruption and unethical practices in the environment of government work, how to deal with ethical problems and dilemmas, and promoting sound ethical behavior.

The skill of prioritizing and dealing with critical issues efficiently.

-Professional and practical skills:

The skill of collecting and analyzing the data required to make administrative decisions in a rational manner.

The skill of using technology to perform business efficiently and shift towards e-government.

The skill of drawing and designing public policies and developing development plans and strategies, implementing and evaluating them successfully.

The skill of applying scientific research methods to solve administrative problems and evaluate government policies, programs and projects.

-General Skills:

The skill of leading and motivating employees in the administrative apparatus in a successful manner.

Teamwork skills.

Effective communication skills in the field of work.

Time management skill and job discipline.

Skills of resolving organizational conflicts and conflicts in the work environment.

Skills of writing reports and management notes.

Knowledge management skill, especially the monitoring and documentation of tacit knowledge.

In addition to the admission requirements contained in the unified regulations for graduate studies for Saudi universities and the organizational and executive rules and procedures for graduate studies at King Saud University, the department requires:

– The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

– The applicant must have at least a high good grade.

– The applicant must have at least (2 years) practical experience in government or private sector work.

– Pass the personal interview.
