Note: The CBSE positional score is calculated using grades in English or Hindi and the best four externally examined subjects. Grades are converted as follows: A1 = 4 points, A2 = 3.5 points, B1 = 3 points, B2 = 2.5 points, C1 = 2 points, C2 = 1.5 points, D1 = 1 point, and D2 = 0.5 points.

  • Students not meeting the minimum direct entry for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) may be eligible for admission subject to successful completion of additional remedial subjects identified by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences.
  • Students with qualifications from other curriculum should contact the Student Recruitment and Admissions department at UOWD to determine their eligibility.
  • All students applying from non UAE MoE curriculum must provide an equivalency of their Secondary School Certificate from the Ministry of Education, UAE; stating the completion of Grade 12.
  • A student who does not satisfy the criteria for Equivalency of Secondary School Certificate, may be subject to conditional admission, based on receiving a Letter of No Objection to Conditional Admission issued by the Ministry.

*Mandatory Engineering Placement Tests

Meeting the minimum academic entry requirements does not automatically guarantee direct entry into first-year engineering subjects.

All eligible applicants must complete university-administered placement assessments in:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics

Minimum Passing Requirement

  • A minimum score of 60% must be achieved in each assessment.

Remedial Requirement

  • Students scoring below 60% in either assessment must complete zero-credit remedial foundation subjects during their first trimester before progressing to standard engineering coursework.

*English Language Proficiency Requirements

As all engineering lectures, laboratories, and assessments are conducted in English, applicants must satisfy one of the following English language requirements.

IELTS Academic

  • Overall score of 6.0.
  • Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

Exception:

  • Applicants who achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.0 but have one band score between 5.0 and 6.0 in either Reading or Writing may be admitted subject to successful completion of a remedial English subject during their first semester.

TOEFL iBT

  • Overall score of 79.
  • Minimum score of 18 in Reading and Writing.
  • Minimum score of 17 in Listening and Speaking.

Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic

  • Overall score of 54.
  • Minimum score of 54 in each Communicative Skill category.
