PhD in Management

Graduates of the PhD-MGT degree program will be prepared to:

• critique methods of research and academic inquiry in the field of management
• reconcile the results of research in the management field of study with extant theory
• identify, investigate and synthesize complex issues within the field by applying a range of analytical tools and theoretical models
• communicate research outcomes effectively to academic and practitioner audiences both orally and in writing
• produce scholarly work for peer-reviewed journals in management, strategy and related areas
• teach effectively and disseminate fundamental knowledge in the field of study and related areas in management

In addition to meeting the university’s general requirements for admission to PhD degree programs, applicants to the PhD-MGT degree program must meet the following program admission requirements:

• Applicants must have completed a Master of Business Administration degree, or a master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Applicants must submit an official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score.

Required Courses
(12 credit hours, 4 courses)

Students must successfully complete the following required courses:

• MGT 710 Quantitative Research Methods in Management

• MGT 712 Theories of Management and Organizational Behavior

Elective Courses
(18 credit hours, 6 courses)

Students must successfully complete six elective courses (for a minimum of 18 credit hours) selected from the following list of courses:

Qualifying and Comprehensive Examinations
