Program Description
Upon graduation, an AUS graduate in industrial engineering should demonstrate:
- an ability to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental and societal contexts
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks and meet objectives
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies
For Bachelor: High school diploma with minimum 80% average, English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 80), SAT test. For Minor: Enrollment in AUS bachelor program with cumulative GPA 2.0 or higher
The curriculum is application-oriented and industry-driven, covering core industrial engineering principles and contemporary topics. Key areas of study within the program include:
- Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering: This covers areas such as inventory and warehousing management, production planning and control, supply chain management, logistics engineering, and facility design and location.
- Quality and Maintenance Engineering: Students learn about quality control and improvement, Six Sigma, quality auditing, reliability engineering, and maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Manufacturing and Production Systems: The curriculum includes production systems, automation, human factors, and facilities planning.
- Operations Research and Data Science: Core topics include probability, statistics, operations research, simulation modeling, and engineering database systems.
- Management and Economics: Management-related courses are also part of the program, such as innovation management, accounting, economics, and marketing.
