  • History and Theory: Gaining knowledge of architectural history and theory, as well as the cultural and historic factors influencing architectural design.
  • Professional Practice: Understanding the diverse and collaborative roles of architects and related disciplines, respecting client expectations, and advocating for design-based solutions.
  • Communication: Developing strong verbal communication, writing, and digital skills, including the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Recognizing the impact of design on the environment and incorporating accessibility guidelines into design outcomes.

The subsequent years of the B.Arch. curriculum involve:
  • Design studio work: Intensive studio experience taught by practicing architects and designers, focusing on developing communication and design skills using both manual drawing and digital CAD software.
  • Lecture courses: Formal instruction in history and theory of architecture and urbanism, technical aspects of construction, environment, and structures.
  • Liberal arts focus: A broad foundation in humanities and social sciences to ensure graduates have a wider understanding of the world.
