Program Description

Our Department aims to provide students with basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and to help the students developing their communication skills in both French and English languages.

– The student understands the fundamental terms in linguistics across a wide range of theories and linguistic schools.
– The student develops various cognitive skills, critical and creative thinking, to systematically reach conclusions and judgments.
– The student deduces the meanings of vocabulary from the general context in written and spoken texts.
– The student acquires the necessary cognitive abilities for self-learning techniques.
– The student grasps translation theories between Arabic and French languages, in diverse fields of knowledge such as scientific, literary, journalistic, and commercial texts.
– The student can self-assess and evaluate other students, enhancing self-learning, personal, intellectual, and social growth.
– The student applies language rules in comprehending and writing texts.
– The student distinguishes differences and similarities between native language culture and foreign cultures, enabling effective communication and respecting diverse perspectives.
– The student differentiates literary schools and their objectives through various types of literary texts.
– The student analyzes written, spoken, and visual discourse to extract hidden messages and implied meanings.
– The student applies correct pronunciation rules for French language sounds while reading and writing.

Introduces the fundamentals of French, including reading, grammar, vocabulary, and sentence construction. Designed for beginners, it covers articles, gender, and singular/plural forms.

Covers basic French grammar, including verbs, tenses, prepositions, conjunctions, and comparisons, with practical applications for real-life situations.

408158 French Language (Intermediate Level)
Builds on prior knowledge to enhance vocabulary and sentence construction. Covers present, past, and future tenses, with emphasis on reading and writing to prepare students for advanced French courses.

Completes intermediate grammar topics, including sentence structure, coordination, pronouns, and passive voice, with practical exercises to reinforce language comprehension.
