Program Description

The Department of Architecture at the University of Petra offers an outstanding program for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. The program stands out for its modernity, alignment with rapid scientific developments, and alignment with the job market requirements. Students in this field receive meticulous attention, focusing on technical, artistic, scientific, practical, and social aspects to serve sustainable community development.

PLO 1:
Graduates will be able to conduct research that informs their decision-making, analysis, and synthesis of design ideas. They will develop design strategies grounded in a sound decision-making process that considers diverse contexts — including social, economic, cultural, and environmental factors — as well as client needs.

PLO 2:
Graduates will apply their knowledge of historical, material, and cultural precedents in architecture, art, and urbanism to inform their practice. They will critically evaluate evidence, demonstrate information literacy, and engage in integrative research to cultivate global and diverse perspectives on people, cultures, and the world.

PLO 3:
Graduates will employ design inquiry to nurture intuition and creativity, enabling them to generate innovative solutions to design problems.

PLO 4:
Graduates will effectively communicate design ideas and their development through various representational media — including verbal, written, and visual formats such as sketches, 2D and 3D drawings, physical models, and digital tools — clearly expressing the evolution of a project from concept to final design.

PLO 5:
Graduates will design buildings that integrate structural and building systems in compliance with relevant codes and regulations, demonstrating a clear understanding of constructability.

PLO 6:
Graduates will develop building designs that incorporate well-integrated environmental systems — including mechanical, electrical, acoustic, safety, and accessibility components.

PLO 7:
Graduates will apply comprehensive and sustainable design principles to develop environmentally responsible architectural solutions.

PLO 8:
Graduates will strengthen their construction management and teamwork skills, effectively collaborating with clients and consultants throughout the design process. They will recognize the various roles of architects and related professionals and understand their legal responsibilities.

PLO 9:
Graduates will produce complete sets of technical drawings and construction documents, including specifications, bills of quantities, and cost estimates.

PLO 10:
Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of societal and professional ethics, as well as the standards and responsibilities associated with architectural practice.

High school average minimum 70% for community college diploma holders or 60% for others.
