Program Description
By the end of their training, residents are expected to:
- Perform a complete diagnostic interview and generate a psychiatric evaluation.
- Perform a physical, neurological, and mental status examination.
- Formulate the bio-psycho-social problem and generate an appropriate treatment plan.
- Generate a differential diagnosis list for major psychiatric disorders.
- Identify and assess psychiatric emergencies.
- Identify and manage the adverse effects of psychiatric medications.
- Assess and manage treatment by psychopharmacologic agents (medication selection, medication safety, monitoring outcomes).
- Apply the appropriate psychotherapeutic intervention for the patient diagnosis.
- Critically review psychiatric literature
- Promote continuous self-learning.
Medical diploma, certified secondary school certificate, official updated university transcript, passing colloquium exam for Lebanese, IFOM exam, 3 recommendation letters, personal interview.
The curriculum emphasizes developing specific skills:
- Conducting diagnostic interviews and examinations.
- Developing treatment plans and managing psychiatric emergencies.
- Managing psychopharmacologic treatments.
- Applying psychotherapeutic interventions.
