Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program

By the end of their training, residents are expected to:

1. Conduct a medical history and perform a physical examination that is adequate for the clinical orthopedic surgical problem.
2. Generate a diagnosis in orthopedics.
3. Acquire the orthopedic surgical skills necessary for diagnosis, operation performance, and postoperative follow-up.
4. Demonstrate competence in the non-operative and operative management of orthopedic patients.
5. Participate in Rounds and Case Review Conferences.
6. Promote active, self-directed learning.

Medical diploma, certified secondary school certificate, official updated university transcript, passing colloquium exam for Lebanese, IFOM exam, 3 recommendation letters, personal interview.

The curriculum provides hands-on surgical experience from the start, with increasing independence based on skill. It includes clinical experience, education, and research. Key clinical areas covered include adult reconstruction, foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, microvascular surgery, orthopedic oncology, orthopedic trauma, pediatric orthopedics, shoulder and elbow reconstruction, spine surgery, and sports medicine. The program also includes research opportunities, presentations, weekly educational sessions, case conferences, and aligns its didactic schedule with resources like the AAOS Resident Orthopaedic Core Knowledge program. International observerships are also available. The program is designed to meet high accreditation standards, such as ACGME-I, to enable graduates to pursue international fellowship training.
