Ophthalmology Residency Program

By the end of their training, residents are expected to:

1. Discuss the anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to the visual system.
2. Identify the pathogenic mechanisms related to the presentation of the clinical problems.
3. Plan, apply, and interpret clinical, laboratory, and imaging information.
4. Develop a diagnosis and care plan for common eye problems.
5. Develop a differential diagnosis.
6. Implement a reasonable and appropriate therapeutic medical and/or surgical plan.
7. Recognize and anticipate complications and how to treat them.
8. Recognize the role of research in clinical professional development.
9. Practice continuous self-learning.

Medical diploma, certified secondary school certificate, official updated university transcript, passing colloquium exam for Lebanese, IFOM exam, 3 recommendation letters, personal interview.

• The program involves clinical rotations across various specialties and subspecialties at university-affiliated hospitals. These rotations expose residents to diverse patient populations and clinical settings.
• The training includes hands-on experience and progressively greater responsibilities as residents advance through the program.
• Residents are evaluated regularly on their performance, clinical skills, and professionalism.
• Participation in research is an expected part of the training.
• The program likely aligns with general ophthalmology residency standards, which typically involve an integrated internship year followed by three years of dedicated ophthalmology training, focusing on both medical and surgical aspects of eye care.
