Five-year academic program to prepare dentists with advanced clinical skills

Domain Learning Outcomes
1. 2. 3. Health Promotion • Assess social, cultural, and environmental factors affecting health and disease.• Apply health promotion and disease prevention strategies to improve quality of life.• Collaborate with the healthcare team to manage and promote oral health.• Evaluate behaviors affecting oral health such as nutrition, smoking, and substance use.• Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based awareness programs.• Apply age-specific caries risk assessment techniques and plan preventive programs accordingly.• Use innovative methods to promote oral health awareness in the community.
4. Scientific and Clinical Knowledge • Evaluate and apply scientific research to improve oral health.• Use fundamental medical and behavioral sciences to understand oral diseases.• Design and conduct dental research using a critical and scientific approach.• Understand the scientific principles of radiation, dental materials, and risk management.• Demonstrate basic knowledge and clinical skills across dental specialties: Conservative Dentistry, Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Endodontics, Periodontology, Prosthodontics, and Public Oral Health.
5. Patient-Centered Care Clinical Data Collection:• Conduct oral and facial examinations and assess vital signs.• Record the patient’s chief complaint and medical/social history.• Use appropriate diagnostic tools and interpret results.• Document patient data accurately, consistently, and up to date.Diagnosis and Treatment Planning:• Develop evidence-based, patient-centered treatment plans.• Diagnose oral diseases and identify cases requiring referral.• Recognize the impact of systemic diseases on dental care.• Apply preventive principles within the treatment plan.• Ensure informed consent and clarify financial aspects.Clinical Treatment and Evaluation:• Manage pain and anxiety related to oral health.• Treat periodontal diseases surgically and non-surgically.• Perform endodontic procedures on internal and external tooth tissues.• Conduct vital pulp therapy procedures.• Use fixed or removable prostheses to restore function and esthetics.• Manage occlusal disorders caused by growth or acquired conditions.• Perform simple extractions and minor oral surgeries.• Prescribe or administer appropriate dental medications.• Monitor treatment effectiveness and follow-up plans.• Handle medical and dental emergencies.• Apply infection control standards in all clinical procedures.• Perform restorations preserving tooth structure and esthetics.• Manage acute oral infections and related soft tissue conditions.• Provide care for different age groups, special medical cases, and people of determination.• Administer local anesthesia and manage possible complications.• Assess orthodontic needs and provide initial corrective treatments.
