PENG 000/5252 – Selected Advanced Topics in Petroleum Engineering (3 cr.)
PENG 000/5253 – Independent Study (3 cr.)
General Elective Courses (Maximum 6 credit hours)
The courses are selected from a set of graduate courses in all engineering disciplines, physical sciences, and other related graduate or 4000 level courses subject to advisor and chair’s approval.
Research Guidance Thesis (9 credit hours)
The thesis work will include 3 credit hours of Graduate Seminar (ENGR 5940) and 6 credit hours of Research Guidance Thesis (PENG 5254).
Research guidance thesis work is an important and required part of the Petroleum Engineering Master of Science degree program. Each student must submit a thesis topic that has been approved by a faculty advisor by the end of the first academic year. Students must complete ENGR 5940 before registering for thesis credits. To ensure adequate faculty consultation on the thesis, the student must register for PENG 5254, Research Guidance Thesis, by the completion of 18 credit hours. Students must register in PENG 5254 continuously and for at least two semesters. The first two registrations in PENG 5254 must be for three credit hours, after that PENG 5254 is taken for one credit hour each semester until completion of the program requirements.
