Program Description

The Master of Applied Finance (Financial Services) offers a comprehensive and advanced program designed to equip students with in-depth knowledge of financial institutions, bank management, and lending. Through work-integrated learning and ongoing collaboration with industry, and collaborative peer learning, participants will gain a conceptually sound and practical understanding of the global financial system. Additionally, competing approaches to corporate governance and business ethics will be developed, besides how to provide protection against portfolio, financial and corporate risks.

* Academic Background Requirements

  • Approved Disciplines: Applicants must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree in a relevant analytical field, such as Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Information Technology (IT). 

    Non-Related Degrees: If your undergraduate degree is from an unrelated field, you cannot enter directly. You must first successfully complete the foundational Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance to qualify.

* English Language Proficiency

Because the curriculum is highly quantitative and analytical, you must submit proof of language proficiency prior to the start of classes:

  • IELTS (Academic): Minimum 6.5 overall, with no individual band (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) falling below 6.0.
  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum 86 overall, with no less than 18 in Reading/Writing and 17 in Listening/Speaking.
  • PTE Academic: Minimum 62 overall, with scores not dropping below 62 across all individual Communicative Skills.


* Credit for Prior Learning:
If you are seeking credit for prior learning, you will need to submit an official academic transcripts showing all courses studied and the grades obtained, syllabus details (including information on course content) for the courses you have successfully completed and an explanation of the grading system. Your eligibility for Credit for Prior Learning will be decided in consultation with UOWD’s Faculty Offices prior to the beginning of the program.
