Program Description
Advanced Economic Analysis: Ability to define and describe basic principles and theoretical concepts such as demand, supply, utility, and production costs in an agricultural context.
Quantitative & Modeling Skills: Proficiency in statistical analysis and economic modeling to evaluate agricultural productivity and analyze complex market trends.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Capacity to use information technology (e.g., MS Excel) for economic assessment and to make informed decisions for sustainable agricultural development.
Policy Formulation: Competence in evaluating and formulating agricultural policies that align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Problem-Solving in Agribusiness: Ability to solve practical problems in areas such as production economics, marketing, agribusiness management, and rural development.
Research Leadership: Skills to conduct original in-depth studies on economic variables and lead modern food sector initiatives while upholding Islamic cultural values.
Degree Eligibility: Applicants must hold a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics or a related agricultural science from KSU or an accredited university.
GPA Standards:
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25/5.0 (Above Average) is required.
Applicants with a lower overall GPA (at least “Good”) may be considered if their GPA in specialty courses at the bachelor’s level is at least 3.75/5.0 (Very Good).
Standardized Testing:
General Aptitude Test (GAT): A minimum score of 70 is required for most applicants.
English Proficiency: Applicants must prove English competence. Those scoring at least 450 on the paper-based TOEFL (or equivalent) are exempt from the university’s mandatory non-credit English course (ENG 055).
Additional Criteria:
Submission of two academic recommendations from former professors.
Passing a personal interview and/or written entrance exam conducted by the department.
Proof of good conduct and medical fitness.
